No visit to Bavaria would be complete without a visit to the Oberammergau Passion Play. Staged every ten years since 1632, it is the world’s longest running
play. A mere half-hour train ride from Munich, Augsburg makes a perfect base from which to explore the Romantic Road. This route links a number of Germany’s most beautiful towns and cities. From Wurzburg in Franconia to Fussen near the Austrian border take in around a dozen cities including Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and Dinkelsbuhl, interspersed with breathtaking landscapes with gentle slopes and ever-changing stunning vistas.
